Premium Membership Services:
This is actual real membership in American Pro Se Association and includes all the features of the associate membership. There is a onetime $50 annual dues, so long as you do not let your membership laps past a six-month grace period. Full membership includes the following additional features and privileges:
1. Information on where to find the relevant needed information, which is important to have on a timely basis.
2. Experienced pro se members that are trained to steer you in the right direction. This often can include suggestions as to type of experts or other specialized persons or resources and where to find them.
3. A resource center and pro se oriented financial and legal library available on nights and week-ends when court libraries are closed for either physical access or by email where a trained volunteer will do certain, but not unlimited, research to address a subject.
4. Access to computerized case law search and legal forms by the trained search person to assist you if we see you need additional help on more advanced ‘on point' case law.
5. Form letters and procedures for documenting your interests and saving money even when you have no legal problems as well as a number of legal forms.
6. ALA - If we can find a match, an Approved Legal Advisor (lawyer) will review your paperwork at only $75 per hour and represent you in court at $120 per hour. Typically we are able to do this at less than 25% of the time but we will assist you in how to best find and engage an attorney appropriate to your particular need.
7. Members that will help you organize and draft your papers before seeing the Approved Legal Advisors so that you may save on billable hours. This can often cut as much as 90% of the attorney paperwork related billable hours that would otherwise be required.
8. Special materials to aid you and referral to experts and other special services – sometimes including minimal Free expert work at either a discounted or no cost. (i.e. How to make computer color chart exhibits and fast find cross-reference of exhibit for quick access at trial.
9. The satisfaction of knowing you are both a member and a contributor to the continuing existence of the only organization dedicated to representing and aiding the interests of pro se parties and the little guy.
10. Substantial effort and resources have been allocated to develop our Website and make fully available 24 hour to members across the nation for important financial and legal information and sources of assistance. Including we normally read and answer email questions twice a day so that you typically have an appropriate response in less than 24 hours.
11. If you provide permission to give out your name, phone number and other needed information we can often connect you with fellow members who will do same or next day service of papers upon your adversary(ies) which can amount to a large dollar saving over special attorney messenger services.
12. Often we will have members who have good English skills or computer knowledge and who may help you with the clarity of writing in your pleadings or teach you how to get more out of your computer and web searches.
13. A 50% discount on the forthcoming Financial/Legal Handbook by Carl R. Frederick that provides critical information for many financial and legal situations. See mission statement of the APSA.
14. You get to vote, hold office and to become a trained volunteer to help others. Many persons have sent a note, Christmas card or other communication – sometimes years later telling us how we latterly ‘saved their life'. Sometimes it has been from unfair police actions and unjustified confinement of totally innocent persons, often it is the saving of their home from foreclosure or from bankruptcy or both. Many times it's saving minor children from custody of a drug or drunken parent or other mistake by the family court. See articles and testimonials.
15. Access to on-line future instruction videos, the first of which are anticipated to be available around the second half of 2005.
